SAM EDWARDS
SC HOUSE SEAT 85
Lexington County
I’ve lived in this community my entire life. As an activist and organizer I have spent countless hours attending hearings and lobbying with a group I co-founded called Indivisible Midlands. When our representatives voted in a way that would hurt us, our families, or community, we’ve said “we’ll vote you out.” I felt compelled to step up and run so that my community would have a choice for the first time in almost a decade.
My commitment to LGBT civil rights goes back to high school when I was a member of Irmo High School’s first GSA, which formed under a hateful principal (and made national news – google Eddie Walker).
Conversion therapy needs to be banned and I would absolutely sign on to such legislation. I also would protest any chic fil a breakfast – just saying.
I support marriage equality and will be a vocal advocate for the protection and advancement of civil rights in our state house.
